Daughter of the Heart of Jesus
Daughter of the Heart of Jesus – Sister Marie-Amandine of the Divine Wound, F.C.J. Filia Cordis Jesu “With a good flap of the wings, and with the aid of grace, let us rise up and leave the earth – above all, leave ourselves – and no longer see anything but Jesus.” – Blessed Marie of Jesus
Foundress: Blessed Marie Deluil-Martiny of Jesus – (“the St. Teresa of Avila of our century”)
Place: Berchem, (Antwerp) Belgium
Year: 1873 A.D. (June 20th, Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus)
Her Charism: This cloistered nun is dedicated to prayer, Adoration of the Eucharist, and self- sacrifice for the reparation of offenses against the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and to offering the Blood of Christ to the Holy Trinity, (a) for the exultation of the Church, and the sanctification of priests, our earthly shepherds, and religious, and (b) for the conversion of the world far from God. Following the Ignatian spirituality, she proclaims Christ by spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart which overflows with the waters of His love for us. Jesus is thirsty for hearts that appreciate Him, but the world does not want Him. For this reason, she, like the Blessed Virgin, is a victim soul who, in union with her maternal pierced heart and with Jesus sacrificed, interpose themselves between the crimes of men and the justice of God. She especially offers the Blood and Water that came forth from the divine wound of the Sacred Heart on Calvary. United with Mary at each Mass, she cooperates with Jesus’ redeeming work and adds a drop of water to the Chalice of His Passion and leads others to an “explosion of love” for Him. As an Adorer of the Eucharist solemnly exposed in her convent, this nun dedicates herself to surrounding Jesus with the most profound signs of respect and love to console His Sacred Heart. The only One in her life is the Eucharistic Jesus offered to the Father on all the altars of the world, present in the Tabernacle, worshiped night and day, and experienced in the intimacy of sanctifying grace and charity. This is her life and her reason for being. With Mary as her mother, model, guide and companion, she is a witness of a holy, humble, hidden, and extraordinary life filled with the love of giving and incredible joy. From the quiet of her chapel, this Daughter shows us that Jesus’ Crucifixion and the Eucharist – the center of everything – are the sources from which to draw upon the real life of grace and holiness. EVERYTHING IS FOR JESUS.
