Daughter of St. Francis of Assisi
Daughter of St. Francis of Assisi – Sister Mary Stephen of Holy Simplicity, D.S.F. “Finding the suffering Christ as she serves God in the poor, sick, and abandoned” “Living the radical love of St. Francis”
Foundress: Mother Anna Brunner
Place: Budapest, Hungary
Year: 1894 A.D.
Her Charism: Poverty, simplicity, and a loving union with God is the life of this Sister’s Congregation. It is evidenced by her tender, loving, sympathetic, and compassionate heart and her commitment to serve the sick poor, terminally ill, and abandoned elderly in the joyful spirit of St. Francis who followed the poor, humble, suffering, crucified Christ. She keeps her eyes fixed on the Master Who gently invites her to love Him with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. When all is broken down, she is there steadfastly under the Cross with Our Blessed Mother and St. John the Evangelist with those who suffer. In the company of Jesus and Mary, “Star of the Sea”, this Sister glorifies God through a life of holiness. The supernatural virtue of simplicity which seeks only to do the Will of God without regard to self-sacrifice or self-advantage, is her path to holiness.
