POOR HANDMAID OF JESUS CHRIST
Poor Handmaid of Jesus Christ – Sister Heidemarie Birgit, P.H.J.C. Ancillae Domini Jesu Christi “Partner in the work of the Spirit”
Foundress: Blessed Catherine Kasper
Place: Dernbach, Germany
Year: 1851 A.D.
Her Charism: Inspired by Mary, the first handmaid, and Blessed Catherine, this Sister reaches out in compassion to all God’s Creation, especially the poor and powerless. Believing that the human heart touches and guides all her work, this Sister serves God and neighbor by responding freely and fully to the Spirit with attentive ears, a contented heart, and joyful service. In humility and simplicity, this Sister teaches children and nurses the sick in hospitals and homes. She often imitates the humility of Our Blessed Mother in keeping house, cooking and sewing. This Sister believes that nothing is small that is done for God with care.
