Contemplative Sister of the Good Shepherd
Contemplative Sister of the Good Shepherd – Sister María del Socorro, R.G.S. “Mary who hears the cries of the suffering helpless” “One person is more precious than the whole world.” – St. Mary Euphrasia
Foundress: Saint Mary Euphrasia Pelletier (Rose Virginie Pelletier)
Place: Angers, France
Year: 1835 A.D.
Her Charism: Possessing the heart of a prayer warrior, this Sister takes a long loving look back at life and at the universe and at all Creation in the Presence of God Who is unconditional Love. She soaks herself in Scripture and lets her heart and mind be fashioned by Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. Zeal for souls animates her life. As Mary Magdalen was the first apostle of the Resurrection, she also announces the reconciling love of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, for everyone. In her prayer life, this Sister creates a holy space where the needs of all are brought to the Shepherd’s Heart. She listens to humanity’s cries of the suffering and seeks new ways of giving birth and giving flesh to God’s infinite care for all His children, particularly to women and children cast off to the peripheries of our aching world. By daring to “let go and trust” God implicitly, this contemplative Sister becomes like a light in the night sky who helps build a world that nurtures compassion and reconciliation and an intimate relationship with our loving God.
