Missionary Sister of Our Lady of Africa
Missionary Sister of Our Lady of Africa – Sister Carli Marie Acutis, M.S.O.L.A. The “White Sister” “Love for Christ and Africa”
Founders: Cardinal Charles Martial Allemand Lavigerie Mother Marie-Salomé
Place: Algiers, Northern Africa
Year: 1869 A.D.
Her Charism: By practicing the treasured virtues of humility and simplicity, this Sister makes known to the rest of the world the reality of Africa – its resources, realizations, struggles, and challenges. Her Ignatian spirituality is apostolic, rooted in the mystery of salvation: God is present in the whole of Creation. Each person she meets is “holy ground” where God is at work transforming the whole world into His Kingdom. Her life has but one purpose: to take on the heart and mind of Christ and be a bearer of hope. For this Sister, prayer is the breathing of her heart. Through catechetical, medical and educational work, and a strong and generous love, she gives her life as a pelican gives its own blood to feed her little ones.
