MISSIONARY SISTER OF CHRIST THE KING
Miss. Sister of Christ the King – Sister Maria Jadwiga of the Polish Martyrs, MChR Congregatio Sororum Missionariarum Christi Regis pro Polonis Emigrantibus (Latin) Misjonarki Chrystusa Króla dla Polonii Zagranicznej (Polish) “Everything for God and for the Polish Diaspora Abroad” “May only Christ be proclaimed”
Founder: Servant of God, Ignacy Posadzy, SChR (Society of Christ)
Place: Poznan, Poland
Year: 1959 A.D.
Her Charism: This Sister lives in a community whose inner motto is St. Paul’s exclamation: “May only Christ be proclaimed” (Phil 1:18). At the very center of her life is Christ reigning from the throne of the Cross. Together with her immigrant brothers and sisters she shares their joys, sorrows, and longings of everyday life. She possesses a boundless love for the Polish diaspora living abroad and a desire to help them remain faithful to God and to their culture, language, and virtuous traditions. This impassioned Sister tries to recreate a piece of their ancestral homeland within the Church for those who are starting their life in a new society and are threatened by loss of faith and loss of identity. She fulfills her apostolic mission by leading these souls to Christ through spreading knowledge of the Eucharist, teaching religion, and offering spiritual care and tender assistance wherever it is needed in parishes, schools, or in nursing homes with the sick, elderly, and lonely. This brave and pious Sister is a person of the Eucharist and a herald of God’s Sacred Heart burning for love of us. It is this fire which is ignited in her so that she can help revive spiritual and liturgical life in parishes, catechize the youth, comfort the sick and heartbroken, and also serve as a sacristan or organist. She is also deeply devoted to Our Lady as her protector and as a perfect model of giving one’s life to Christ in the missionary vocation. Realizing that it is not possible to reach out to all of about 20 million Polish emigrants personally, she believes that her prayer does.
