SISTER OF ST. JOSEPH OF CLUNY

Sister of St. Joseph of Cluny –  Sister Marie-Amorette Simone, S.J.C.                                                                                                           “The Holy Will of God”

Foundress:  Saint Anne-Marie Javouhey  † the first woman to establish missions in Africa †

Place:  Chalon-sur-Saône, France

Year:  1806 A.D.

Her Charism:  As a woman dedicated to “doing the Holy Will of God” and to bringing hope and compassion to our anguished world, this Sister is called to stand with “the other” where there is little good to be done.  With her missionary heart open to the world, she speaks as well as witnesses by her very presence, re-echoing the teaching of the Word Incarnate and stressing the Father’s love.  She is a missionary disciple desiring to be everywhere at once and never is she content while there is suffering to be relieved and people to be saved.  Through communal contemplative prayer she commits her life to work toward the liberation of the unfree through education.
