SISTER OF MARY MORNING STAR – “Sister of Maria Stella Matutina”

Sister of Mary Morning Star – Sister María Asunción del Carmelo Hermana de María Stella Matutina “Living from the motherhood of Mary, and rooting herself in the heart of the Church as an expression of love and in the shadow of all the saints who are stars in Heaven”
Place: San Sebastián, Spain
Year: 2014 A.D.
Her Charism: Fresh and powerful, this Sister’s life is fully contemplative, centered on prayer, manual work, and study, while living in the world; but not with monastic enclosure from the world. Armed with the knowledge of St. Dominic and the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, she gives great importance and seriousness to intellectual training and theological studies. Her uniqueness is a combination of Carmelite, Carthusian, and Dominican (St. Thomas Aquinas) spiritualities. Being a contemplative living in the world, she is able to participate in diverse communal activities (teaching, nursing, prison ministry) in order to evangelize. This Sister follows St. John the Evangelist in taking Mary into her home, and with her, being united to Jesus offering His life to the Father. She lives in such a way that she can be a visible presence of prayer and joyfulness in today’s world without being distracted from her call to a very radical consecrated life of intimacy with Christ in silence and solitude. Her daily life is built on prayer, (Eucharistic Adoration/Liturgy of the Hours), fraternal charity, the search for truth (study of Scripture, philosophy, and theology), and manual work. Absorbed in Jesus’ prayer for her to live on in Him, this Sister lets the sunrise of the light of Christ shine on everyone she meets and on all she does. She is a silent witness of the redeeming love of Christ and a presence of joy and hope with a sincere smile. One of her greatest spiritual guides is the Magnificat. Her soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord. Along with Mary, she says, “Yes, Yes, Yes! I will carry this Child without fear and trust in Your ways.” This Sister lives the mystery of Mary’s compassion for the world as part of the New Evangelization.
