Soeurs Adoratrices du Précieux-Sang † The first contemplative Community founded in Canada † “Sitio” – “The infinite thirst of Christ for souls” “Adoration, Reparation, Suffering, Fidelity, Constancy, and Generosity” “Vive le Sang de Jésus” – “Long live the Blood of Jesus”
Foundress: Blessed Catherine Aurelia of the Precious Blood (Aurelia Caouette)
Place: Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada
Year: 1861 A.D.
Her Charism: This Sister is vowed to spreading devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus on the Cross for all mankind. She lives out in love and in the spirit of joy her own insatiable thirst for souls (“Sitio”) in response to the loving thirst of Christ for souls. This is carried out in silence, solitude, contemplative prayer, and reparation (atoning sacrifices) for those who do not know the salvation of God or who are indifferent to what God has done for them. The characteristic spirit of her monastic Community is the joyful, fervent devotedness and worship of the Precious Blood of Jesus, homage to Mary Immaculate, and exercises of piety and holy works for the conversion of sinners. This contemplative Sister understands that the principle of all reparation is in Jesus Christ and in continuing His redeeming mission. Her way of life is an uninterrupted union of mind and heart with the Eucharistic sacrifice of Christ, Priest and Victim, adoring, atoning, and imploring Divine Mercy for the world.
