POOR CLARE COLETTINE NUN
Poor Clare Colettine Nun – Sister Marie Placide, P.C.C. “Little Handmaid of the Lord”
Foundress: Saint Colette of Corbie
Place: Besançon, France
Year: 1410 A.D.
Her Charism: Living uniquely for Christ, this Poor Clare is called by God not so much to do anything as to be something. Her life of prayer, adoration and praise prefigures eternity. As a Bride of Christ, she has direct access to His listening ear. By the mysterious and radical limiting of her body to the cloister, her heart expands so that her “mission field” co-exists with God Himself and she becomes a leaven of holiness in the Church. She lives a life of obedience, poverty, virginal chastity, and enclosure. Through her sacrifices and prayers she spreads a perfume of joy in the soul and around the world. Truly, this little handmaid is secure in the possession of a “Lover more beautiful than all the sons of men.”
