ORDER OF THE MOST HOLY REDEEMER

Order of the Most Holy Redeemer – Sister Caterina Elisetta of the Resurrection, O.Ss.R.

Ordo Sanctissimi Redemptori

“Redemptoristine Nun” also The “Red Nun”

Foundress: Blessed Maria Celeste Crostarosa

Place: Scala, (not far from Amalfi) Italy

Year: 1731 A.D.

Her Charism: As a monastic contemplative dedicated to praying constantly for humanity’s most lost, weary, and abandoned souls, this nun is a constant reminder of God’s love in a suffering world. Through a Christo-centric life of contemplative prayer, work, and sacrifice for the sake of the Kingdom, she is a faithful witness (“a living memory”) of the love of God and Christ Our Redeemer, in ever deepening communion with Him. Each exercise of the day is a memory of some mystery in His life. Hidden with Christ in God from her cloister, and with all her heart, (the “paradise of God”) she seeks to spread the graces of redemption by living her life in perfect imitation of Jesus Christ – His “beauty” and His “purity” – and by becoming a radiation of Christ and His works. In fact, this contemplative nun is a living Eucharist for the world. The Redemptoristine motto is: Copiosa Apud Eum Redemptio . . . “With Him is plentiful redemption.”
