FRANCISCAN SISTER OF THE BLESSED KUNEGUNDA

Franciscan Sister of the Blessed Kunegunda –  Sister Mary Georgina, O.S.F.Bl.Kun.                                                                          “Chicago Franciscan Sister”                                                                                                            “Deus meus et omnia”  –  “My God and My All”

Foundress:  Venerable Mother Mary Theresa Dudzik, O.S.F.  (Josephine Dudzik)

Place:  Chicago, Illinois,

Year:  1894 A.D.  (December 8 – Feast of the Immaculate Conception)

Her Charism:  This Sister is rooted in the Gospel, united in prayer and community, shares Franciscan joy, and serves the people of God generously in her efforts to transform society. Like her foundress, she embodies humility, unyielding faith, compassion, and quiet fortitude as she cares for children, the sick, the infirm, and the elderly through pastoral and social services.  Possessing a heart for Jesus, she feels the misery and suffering of others and cannot even think of herself remotely worthy of Heaven if she were only concerned about herself to the neglect of the poor and needy.  This Sister is wholly herself in Jesus as she reaches out to others in hospitals and hospice care, and through education, child advocacy, and community service.  Like St. Francis – “the little unlettered man”- it is what she is that makes what she does worthwhile and beautiful.
