DOMINICAN SISTER OF CHARITY OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN
Dominican of Charity of the Presentation – Sister Geneviève-Marie of Angelic Charity, O.P. of the Blessed Virgin “To live and die in the service of the Church in the exercise of charity” “Called to be Lovers of the Word and Preachers of Hope”
Foundress: Blessed Marie Poussepin (The “Social Apostle of Charity”)
Place: Sainville, France
Year: 1684 A.D.
Her Charism: This Sister’s charism is one that is shared with St. Dominic – a harmonious being and acting: to experience the Word of God, and from this experience, announce the charity and compassion of God through loving service to those in need. The “raison d’être” for her Community is the service of charity under the protection of Mary in the Joyful Mystery of the Presentation in the Temple. Radiating God’s love, she is a preacher of Christ in active contemplation. With ensuing compassion, she keeps the intensity and zeal for education of the poor, care of the sick, aged, and oppressed women, counseling and faith formation alive. Her mission is to sow seeds of hope and give voice to the cry of the poor while keeping the presence of God in all her actions.
