CATECHIST SISTER OF MARY IMMACULATE HELP OF CHRISTIANS

Catechist Sister of Mary Immaculate Help of Christians –  Sister Maryam Nirmala, S.M.I.                                                                        Sister “Ashi” (Smile)                                                                                                                “To love God and help others to love God”

Founder:  Bishop Louis LaRavoire Morrow, S.D.B.  (“The Smiling Bishop of Krishnagar”)

Place:  Krishnagar, West Bengal, India

Year:  1948 A.D.

Her Charism:  This Sister’s devotion to God begins with a smile and is governed by the    desire to revitalize The Little Way of Spiritual Childhood of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus.   She relates to God as a tender loving Father in all matters (the Abba experience of Jesus), and St. John Bosco’s persuasion on how love, served with a smile, wins the hearts of all she serves.  This is her life and mission.  Her deepest identity is evangelization: to proclaim Christ to those who do not know Him, and catechesis through home visitation and village apostolate.  To live in intimacy with Christ and to implant it in others is how she follows Our Blessed Mother, who is her model in all virtues.
