Her Charism: As a sanctified Bride of the Crucified and incarnate prayer for the salvation of souls, this cloistered contemplative nun perpetually mourns for the love of her Crucified Lord – not only by her habit, but even more so in her heart. She makes the sufferings of Jesus her own and heals His holy wounds by a continual practice of the virtues of His Passion, especially humility, obedience, patience, forgiveness, and charity – the greatest and most overwhelming experience of God’s love. Consecrating herself totally to the mystery of the Redemption by entering more deeply into the mercilessness and madness of the Cross, she keeps alive the memory of Christ’s Passion and teaches others to do the same. Through her hidden life of joyful prayer, penance, work, silence, solitude and virtue, she enters more deeply into the pierced Heart of Christ interceding for the needs of the Church and the world, and giving unceasing praise and thanks to the Holy Trinity. As a Daughter of the Passion, she dwells on Calvary next to our Sorrowful Mother, comforting Christ her Son and seeking to become a little co-redeemer with Mary, the Handmaid of Redemption. She places her trials and sufferings into the Most Holy Wounds of Jesus and under the mantle of Mary’s Sorrows where Mary bathes and soothes her heart with her tears. In addition to the vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and enclosure, this nun makes a special vow to promote devotion to and grateful remembrance of the Passion of Christ. Nourished by the Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Liturgy of the Hours, personal prayer, and Sacred Scripture study, a Passionist nun leads a life of intercession and reparation; a life of worship and self-gift – from the rising of the sun to its setting. She lovingly invites the laity and draws them to the Foot of the Cross to share in the contemplation of the Paschal Mystery by offering retreats at her monastery – an oasis of prayer – and sharing the fruits of her prayer and labors of love.
