Missionary Servant of the Poor of the Third World
Missionary Servant of the Poor of the Third World – Sister María Salvadora, M.S.P.T.M. Movimiento Siervas de los Pobres del Tercer Mundo “Opus Christi, Salvatoris Mundi” – “Work of Christ, Savior of the World”
Founder: Reverend Giovanni Salerno, S.P.T.M. (an Italian priest and doctor)
Place: Cuzco, Peru
Year: 1986 A.D.
Her Charism: Devoted to the Blessed Virgin, this Sister hears the cries of the poor and suffers with them in joy. She recognizes Christ’s pain on the disfigured faces of the poor and loves them with the same heartbeat as Jesus. In continual conversion she follows the pure Christ Who did not come to be served, but to serve. The Imitation of Christ is the chisel that transforms her day after day into another Jesus, so humble and radiant. Nourished by the Eucharist that transforms her into bread that is broken and shared with the poor who await her, she evangelizes silently so the poor can feel their dignity as humans and as Children of God. Dedicated to the human and spiritual education of the poor and abandoned children of the Third World, she dares to go where nobody goes (on mission with God in the Andes) to seek the Face of the Christ Child.
