Sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Wichita – Sister Virginia Marie, I.H.M. “Ad Jesus per Mariam” – “To Jesus through Mary” “O, Mary, may all who look at me see only you.”
Founders: Reverend Joaquin Masmitjà y Puig (Spain) Mother Joanne Brummel (Kansas)
Place: Wichita, Kansas
Year: 1976 A.D.
Her Charism: She is the Daughter of the Good News. In all things and at all times, this Sister seeks union with God by trying to live Mary’s Fiat: “Be it done unto me according to Your Word,” thus sharing in the redemptive mission of Christ. As a member of a contemplative-active Community with a Eucharistic Marian spirituality, she, like Mary, ponders all things in her heart and prays for the conversion of sinners and for the sanctification of priests. This Sister is devoted to the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Mary which leads her to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. Only in deep communion with Christ the Teacher does she find the light and strength for the continuous renewal of her own life so that she can give Christ to the world. This Sister’s dedication to educate and her compassion are the treasures of her feminine heart, making her a living visible image of Mary to the world today.
