Glenmary Home Mission Sister
Glenmary Home Mission Sister – Sister Mary Isaac of Our Lady of the Fields, G.H.M.S. Congregation of Apostolic Life “Pioneering No Priestland, USA”
Founder: Reverend William Howard Bishop
Place: Glendale, Ohio
Year: 1941 A.D.
Her Charism: Devoted to Our Lady of the Fields, this Sister brings the compassionate outreach of the Catholic Church to the poor, neglected, and forgotten in the rural areas and small towns in Appalachia, the South, and Southwest (AKA Mission Land USA). She is immersed in a deep life of prayer and trust in the Holy Trinity. Her efforts to establish missions in these impoverished areas and help people become self-sufficient and break free from the reigns of poverty establishes a loving Catholic presence. In this way, she makes the Catholic Church fully alive and accessible to them. By practicing the Corporal Works of Mercy, she strives to become a saint. † The “Star of Bethlehem” quilt pattern is a part of her pectoral cross. The points and rays of the star reach out to all people and symbolize a desire to reconcile all of God’s children. †
