Franciscan Missionary Sister of the Infant Jesus
Franciscan Missionary Sister of the Infant Jesus – Sister Maria Amadea, F.M.I.J. “Loving Jesus in our neighbor and our neighbor in Jesus”
Foundress: Servant of God, Mother Mary Joseph of the Infant Jesus (Barbara Micarelli)
Place: Aquila, Italy
Year: 1879 A.D. (*Christmas Day*)
Her Charism: The birth of Jesus in the Grotto of Bethlehem, “Who was born an infant in order to be loved and not feared, ” constitutes the heart of the charism. By living in simplicity, humility, poverty, and charity, this Sister gives witness to the Christmas message of peace and joy. She sees Jesus in her neighbor and her neighbor in Jesus. Her charism is directed to helping the world seek out what is good, innocent, beautiful, and positive. With clear vision, she dedicates her life to the welfare of the poor, the orphans and the abandoned. This Sister strives to give, especially to little ones who are wounded by family or social situations, the tools to rise up and face life with a sense of joy and dignity. A true daughter of “the little poor man,” this Sister finds in the Infant Jesus the origin and reason of the charity, simplicity, poverty, and humility to which the Franciscan life binds her.
