Monica’s Tears
Exaggerating What the World Neglects
Each Monastery Belle represents and celebrates the universality, diversity, cultural richness, conversion, perseverance, and beauty of the Catholic Church. This Seraphic symphony of spirit, solidarity, and wisdom creates a motif of discovery and recovery, mystery and miracle. It is a journey of both visual and spiritual transformation and a reflection of God’s soul-stirring goodness and heart-warming surprises.
All the nuns here are represented by discarded and refurbished dolls wearing handstitched habits made from remnant materials. Each doll came to me with visible and invisible manifestations of suffering which is a metaphor for the wounded soul of humanity. But, what is broken, abused, rejected, and imperfect becomes whole, dignified, and beautiful in the sunlight of God’s creative and renewing love.
I set these examples before your eyes to help you keep raising your sights and efforts.
May you see a spark of the Divine within yourself and the reality of who you are:
worthy of love, gentleness, and grace.
“Totus Tuus ego sum, Maria!”
